Polly Agatha Diary 2009



This schedule is designed to give you a feel for what type of events we enjoy doing but very little is cast in stone so if you fancy something different please call Kim on 07795 480254 and discuss! Any other dates not mentioned here are available so once again please just call. We welcome individuals, groups, families on single days and longer trips and no experience is necessary although the longer trips can be quite demanding for people who have not sailed long distances before– but fun!

Fun Sailing – February 7th-8th Fun sailing for individuals!

Fun Sailing February 28th-March 1st Weekend sailing joining Polly Agatha by 9am on Saturday and departing 4pm Sunday. Various Solent destinations for Saturday night with free informal tuition if required.
Price £210 per person to include breakfast and lunch each day.

Learn to sail gaff riggers March 7th & 8th - Two days where you will get a feel for how to sail a boat and what it is like living on such a beautiful yacht. Ideal for individuals or families who just want to enjoy learning about how to sail a boat like this! Very informal and great fun. Prices from £210

Solent exploration – March 20th – 23rd Eight ports in four days (challenge). Tides and weather accepted we will visit as many ports as possible in the Solent so that you can experience each of these fantastic and individual harbours. Ideal for people who want to learn about navigating and piloting around the best sailing ground in the world or simply want to explore our beautiful coastline. Prices from £400 per head to include all meals and mooring fees.

Easter Cruise Friday April 10th-Monday 13th Fun sailing and free informal tuition as we sail down to the beautiful harbour of Poole, anchor at Brownsea Island, visit the town and then sail back visiting Yarmouth on the way.
Prices £395 per person or £Call for whole boat to include breakfast and lunch each day.

Club Sailing – April 18th-19th Thames Water Offshore Sailing Club Event

Semaine Du Golfe Morbihan 10th-26th May – Come and sail in this fantastic festival in one of the world’s most beautiful ‘inland’ water ways. A potentially demanding sail there and back touching Biscay this is a real sailors experience. Visit their website for the full flavour www.semainedugolfe.com Around £1150 per person

YOGAFF May 28th-31st – Yarmouth Old Gaffers Festival. A fantastic few days of wooden boats, Gaff rigs, real ale, racing and family fun. The whole town of Yarmouth comes to life for this colourful spectacle. See photographs from previous years.
Thursday 28th Sail from Hamble to Yarmouth.
Friday 29thth Parade of sail and fun sailing.
Saturday 30th Racing the other Old Gaffers.
Sunday 31st Race in the morning then sail to Hamble.
Great shore-side activities throughout.
Prices £450 per head to include all meals and Regatta entry fees. The beer is extra! Ideal family booking or individuals and novices are always welcome.

Pilot Cutter Championships Mid June – Falmouth & St. Mawes. These are the World Championships for Pilot Cutters and a spectacular event.
The first leg is the trip from Hamble to Fowey June 8th-11th stopping at Weymouth and Dartmouth.
The second part is the Championships themselves June 12th-14th with some competitive racing at times but always done with a smile on our faces. (We came 3rd last year so we are keen to get higher on the rostrum this time)
Finally the trip back to the Hamble June 15th-18th stopping at various ports.
£400 per leg or £1000 for the whole trip. Be prepared for some long passages and demanding conditions at times. Just two places remaining!

Round the Island Race June 19th-21st. The largest yacht race in the world and a really fun day but tiring! It’s an event that everyone should do at least once in their lives!

The Classic Channel Regatta 2009 will follow a similar format to the highly successful previous regattas in 2005 & 2007, calling at three of the finest ports in the Channel. There will be two days of racing at Dartmouth, before the Classic Channel Race sails to Paimpol where the regatta will be hosted by the Ville de Paimpol and the racing will be organised with the Cercle Nautique de Paimpol. It will then sail on to St Peter Port, where we are also assured of a very warm welcome by the joint organisers there, the Guernsey Yacht Club.
Wednesday July 1st –
Join Polly Agatha at the Hamble and set sail for Dartmouth
Friday July 3rd -
Boats arrive and registration. Evening welcome drinks at the Royal Dart Yacht Club.
Saturday July 4th -
Racing in Start Bay. Evening Regatta Party in The Old Market Square, Dartmouth.
Sunday July 5th -
Racing in Start Bay. Evening Regatta Supper and prizegiving in The Old Market Square, Dartmouth.
Monday July 6th –
Start of Classic Channel Race to Paimpol.
Tuesday July 7th -
Classic Channel Race arrives at Paimpol. Boats lock into basin at Paimpol on the morning or evening tide.
Wednesday July 8th -
Free day at Paimpol. Evening prizegiving supper for the Classic Channel Race in Paimpol.
Thursday July 9th -
Inshore race off Paimpol, possibly followed by afternoon pique-nique (weather permitting) before returning to Paimpol in the evening.
Friday July 10th -
Passage race from Paimpol to St Peter Port.
Saturday July 11th -
Classic Round Sark Race. Evening regatta prizegiving and closing party in St Peter Port.
Sunday July 12th –
Sail back to the Hamble and arrive sometime Monday/Tuesday depending on weather
This amazing two week sailing extravaganza just £1500 per person to include pretty much everything! Limited to six people so Hurry!!!!

British Classic Yacht Club Cowes Regatta July 18th-26th. An entire week or individual days featuring the most beautiful yachts in the world. Formal racing, relaxed racing, cruising and great social events. Each year has a different theme so please call and we’ll post you this year’s programme once it is published.
This year we will be racing other Pilot Cutters around the Solent.
Prices £150 pp per day or the whole 8 days for £900. To include Regatta fees most meals and some shore-side events. (Depending on programme)

Cowes Week August 1st-9th. The big one! Watch the racing every day and be right in the thick of it anchored at the jibe mark or at the end of the start line watching all the action including the amazing firework display on Friday night. The ideal corporate entertainment package for 12 guests.
Prices £1800 per day to include breakfast and lunch.
